Gardens By The Bay: The Free Area

I feel like we are the only family that hasn't visited Gardens by The Bay yet. That really shouldn't have happened because we are the most happening family in Singapore!

And so, we made our way to the much talked-about Gardens by the Bay last weekend, just to see for ourselves how lovely that place is. I must say - we were not disappointed. :)

We had no intention to pay for entry tickets to the conservatories, so we just wanted to check out the free area. Turned out to be a super big area, and I have every intention to go picnic there one of these days.

These SUPERTREES welcomed us at the entrance. I always saw them from a distance on Nicoll Highway, and thought they didn't look nice at all. However standing beneath them and looking up, they looked quite pleasant actually. They look great on photos too!

I have no idea why but the girls started doing jumping stints. I guess the Supertrees must have inspired them somehow.

I like them actually. And I took like 500 shots of them on that day, all looking somewhat similar. =P

This is the Cloud Forest Conservatory, as can be seen from the outside. I always love pretty architectures - They inspire me beyond measure. If I had been a little more hardworking, I might have opted to study architecture during my Uni days.

Bringing kids to a garden or nature-related place is always a good idea because green things are good for our eyes. And it's a colour that makes you feel peaceful at heart.

I say my girls love this place too. They were running here and there, peering at pretty flowers and weird-looking leaves.

This plant looked so gross, I had goosebumps staring at it. But it was really harmless, lying quietly on a very still lake.

The girls saw dragonflies hovering over the lake! And they were blue ones! Really pretty and unusual.

We were all very glad to see a cafe selling coffee and ice-cream. The flavours available were really unique! There were many flower-related flavours that I hope to try another time - Black rose definitely sounds interesting! But of course, my kids didn't share my sentiments. They basically go for anything pink.

I love how this space looked. The curved pillars made such a great visual impact.

Joey told me that the next time we go back, we NEED to go into the conservatory. I think so too - There were very huge flowers inside that looked almost unreal. I really should investigate them.

Wooo fluffy  clouds. :)

From here, you can see the beautiful skyline of Singapore. So tranquil and peaceful. :)

Just when I thought that was the end of the free area, we walked into another huge area that had a long and wide lake and more Supertrees. This is such a good place for strolls and walks.

This was this wooden bridge that lined the circumference of the lake, and half the time, I was paranoid about my kids falling into the lake. =.=

But it was pretty cool nevertheless. Lots of learning points along the way and new plants to explore and touch.

Gardens by the Bay is really quite a cool place to visit with your family. I want to be back at night again to see how beautiful it is when the lights are all up. :)

Other random shots I took during the visit:
