Most of my weekends are rowdy and packed with lots of outdoor activities with the kids. We usually have lots of fun doing those stuffs, but on rare occasions, we spend our weekends in a quiet manner. Last Saturday, that was what we did. We went to visit a friend who just opened a new bakery stall in Tiong Bahru, and then we popped by Orange Thimble for tea break. I blogged about Orange Thimble some time back, and I really like this cafe for its very lovely interior decor and simple but comfort food.
There is a vintage touch to Orange Thimble cafe - They serve your hot drinks with the very traditional sugar icing biscuits. :) I gave them to my kids, much to their delight.
I am secretly pleased that I can now do some cafe hopping with my kids because they are slightly more grown up now. Life's definitely easier and I can't wait to introduce all my favourite cafes to them one by one.
On a Saturday afternoon, the Orange Thimble is almost full. I reckon chilling in a cafe during the weekends is a nice way to relax after a busy week of work. :)
Apart from the usual cookies, breads, sandwiches and cakes, the cafe also serves some main courses and ice-cream - Definitely a good way to entertain your kids while you are sipping your hot tea.
Ice-cream is served in chilled porcelain china bowls. Again, nice vintage touch.
I ordered the Chicken Shepherd's Pie, and it was quite nice. The portion was just nice for an afternoon tea break too.
I so love cafe hopping! And so, I'm really looking forward to visiting some lovely cafes in Tokyo next week [Yeps! We're flying off on Sunday!]! :)
