Rode On The Wings Of Prayer

Yeh, thank you for all your prayers. Joey's fever has subsided and I hope it stays that way. :)

Took her temperature 3 times this morning, and it's been in the 37-point-something range. She is definitely more smiley today too, though I can tell she is still sedated from her medication. In any case, I am sure she will be up & running in no time at all, Praise The Lord!

Interestingly, I just SMSed my dear friend to wish her a happy birthday today and arranged to meet her for dinner next week. Told her that Joey will be joining us for dinner as well, and guess what she said, "No prob.... But pls sedate her with some alcohol first on that night, otherwise cannot cope.." hahaha, I wanna laugh. I have had enough of a sedated Joey in the past 2 days that I think it's more than enough. =D

OK, I promise not to complain about how rowdy & hyperactive she is for ...... one week. :):)

Stars Joey

You must be wondering what Stars Joey are. :)

Well, I found a real neat way to help Joey learn to recognise her name. Bought glow-in-the-dark stars and stuck them on the wall above Joey's cot.

In the Day

In the Night

Cool eh? I have been pointing to Joey the stars that form her name on the wall, and telling her they're STARS JOEY! =D

keke.. there you have it.

No More Booties . Time For Real Boots!

About 9 months ago, I already had thoughts of getting Joey a pair of rainy day boots when I passed by a shop that sells really cool boots. But Joey could not crawl then, much less walk! So, I made a mental note to get it for her when she can walk. Now is the time! Check out her cute boots! Waterproof inside & out. Heee...

Frankly speaking, I stood in the store for a long time, and couldn't decide which design to take. There're so many cute designs lor! Yellow duckie, green froggie, trains & buses, pink strawberries, etc etc. So cute and colourful, that I wish I could buy all of them home! But in the end, I settled for this jellybean design. Not too complicated so that it can match her clothes easier. Heee...

If you wanna get for your kid too, can drop by Sembawang Sun Plaza Cartoon House, Level 1. $12.90 per pair. =D

Heart Very Pain

Like I said, this is probably the worst fever episode Joey ever suffered from. Has been taking her temperature the whole day, and it keeps going up and down within the 38-degree mark, and at times, crossing the 39-degree mark.

It is super obvious that Joey is really sick this time round. Previous times when she was sick, she would still be very active and playful. But this time round, all she does is lie around and look very sedated. The medication could be the reason, but it really pains my heart to see her so tired & lethargic. Sigh..

Whole day, she's been eating and sleeping and eating and sleeping. She would wake up, then drink her milk, then lie down on a cushion on the floor and just stare into thin air. I am sure all of you who has had any encounters with her, know that this is almost an impossible scenerio. I just had to pick her up from the cushion and put her into her sarong and she would sleep immediately. No struggle. No screams.

Aiyo! My heart feels so painful just looking at her.

I stared into her eyes quite a lot today. She just laid there still, and stared back at me. I am not trying to be melancholic, but her eyes really seem to tell me, 'Help me, mama... very painful...' Cannot take it!! God, please heal my baby!!!!!!!

Not So Hot, Please!

Joey is sick.

High fever, hovering around 39.2 to 39.4 degrees. Really hot, her entire body. I think this is the first time she got such a high fever. Must be very uncomfortable for her, cos I don't think I have ever seen her so lethargic before. And she keeps crying and whinning at every small little thing. Sigh...

I've suffered from high fevers when I was a kid. My fever got so bad that the doctors were afraid that I will suffer from brain damage that they quickly soaked me in ice water tub and had 4 fans blowing at me, in a drastic attempt to bring down my temperature. I was told by my colleagues that this is not practised now anymore, as it may cause the patient to go into shock and eventually may die still.

Even though I was still small, maybe 3 years old or less, but I could still remember the trauma I felt in that cold room in the clinic and having to soak in the ice cold water. When you're having fever, you will feel so cold right? And still got to soak in ice water. Argghh.... you can imagine how traumatic it must have been for me, to be able to remember the scene still, after 20 over years.

Please pray that my Joey will recover soon, and her fever will subside. I want my bubbly & active girl back again!

Can you see how drowsy & lethargic she is? This is the first time she fell asleep in this cot of hers. She would always whine & shout to get out of it previously, cos it's like a playpen to her. Now, she fell asleep in it.

Yippeeee An De Lei!

Our aunt gave Joey a wooden rocking horse! Well, technically, it's a loan cos she said when Joey outgrows it, we can return it to her, cos she wants to keep it as a keepsake of her kids' childhood. Haha... And so, for the time being, it's Joey's toy!

Cool leh! Cos Joey loves riding on rocking horses! And this is such a classic-looking wooden rocking horse! She rides on every one she sees either in the church or the office nursery. Naturally, she was thrilled when she saw it upon reaching home today!

She rocks so hard back & forth that I got worried that she may rock herself off the horse!

When I finally finally succeeded in asking her to face my camera, she gave me this kind of face:

Sigh!

The Socks

Here comes Joey.

Oh look, she is wearing her latest fashion accessory!

Can't make out what is it? Let Joey show you herself.

Her new knee-high socks. kekeke.. so kawaii right??!

Haha... Joey also knows she very kawaii.. kekeke...

I am so happy I found this pair of socks at Kiddy Palace. Costs me only $4.90 and it was the only pair left there! Will surely check out the other branches to see if I can find some more. I adore them! They keep her feet and legs warm and is a real cool fashion statement! My MIL tells me that she used to let Isaiah wear alot of this kind of socks. Same pattern some more. I was trying to imagine, but I couldn't stop laughing at how girlie the image looks in my mind. Haha!

For My Dear Friends

I received a birthday card from my dearest friends today by post!

Got to leave them a message here cos I know they occasionally read Joey's blog.

The card is so precious and touches my heart because Wai Leng is now studying overseas in a far away land! And the reason why both of these 2 dear friends' birthday wishes are written on the same card is cos Lilian went over to meet her to go for a tour there! Heee...

Here's Wai Leng...

She's my room mate when I was staying in Sheares Hall during my Uni days.

And this is Lilian. She's the next-door neighbour to me and Wai Leng. =D

I will never forget the days we spent in Sheares Hall. It was really a very fun time of my life. These 2 friends are very very sweet ok! We would leave notes of encouragements on each others' doors during exam and test periods. We would leave little surprises - gifts or food, in each others' room, just to spur each other on. If we went through tough times in relationships or studies, we will share each others' woes. They're really wonderful friends lah. I couldn't have asked for better companions in the Hall. I still keep all the letters they wrote to me. Yeh, we write lengthy letters and cards to each other even though we were living together. Haha... Super girlie stuffs, we do. keke..

Thanks dear friends, for remembering my birthday! :):)

Sky. Sea. Sand

Went to Pasir Ris Beach with my parents on Sunday for dinner. I love the beach! Especially during evening time. I wish Sembawang beach is nearer to my house. :( Nevertheless, Joey loves the beach too! It's so wide and open for her to run freely!

I think she saw a bird.

And then, she saw an ant. (I think)

The prawning pool is very crowded. Alot of people trying to catch live prawns. :)

The sea view from where we were seated during dinner was fabulous. It was really comfortable dining there!! =D

A Day With the Meh Mehs

Brought Joey to the only goat farm in Singapore - Hay Dairy Farm!

The farm is located at Lim Chu Kang, near Kranji area, and it's part of the 9 farms that form the area called Kranji Countryside. Never knew about this Countryside until I came across a friend's blog today, and then again, I only know there's a goat farm, but to my surprise when I reached there, I saw that there were frog farm, organic veggies farm, flowers farm, etc etc. The farms are far apart from each other though, so you got to hop on a Kranji Express bus which will allow you to farm-hop. :) Interesting.

Anyway, I only brought Joey to the goat farm. It was very quiet as it's a Monday.

Saw a lot of goats there, obviously. Hee... Only one of the barns is open for visitors to walk in and feed the goats. And it's the barn for Bachelor goats apparently. Hmm..

Quite a handsome bachelor huh? :)

Surprise #1: The farm was not as smelly as I thought it would be. True, there was a smell of goats and countryside when I reached the farm, but still, it was very faint. Infact, I think the whole farm is very hygenic and pleasant. :)

Some of the goats are very tall and they like to lift their front hoofs and hang them on the railings. I was so worried that one of them might jump out and pounce on me and Joey as we walk through it. keke..

Joey, on the other hand, thought, "What's the big deal? If they jump out, it'll be fun!"

You can also buy a packet of hay to feed the goats.

They're so cute, cos they really go mehhhhh..... mehhhhhhh... everytime we walk near them. When we walk away, they stop the meh-ing and the moment we walk near, they go mehhhhh again... heee...

Cute goats eating hay.

Surprise #2: Joey was not at all scared of the goats! I had thought she would hold on tight to my legs and refuse to go near any of the goats, but she was not in the least afraid of them! And she kept sticking her finger out towards them, that I was so worried that one of them might bite her finger away!

Look at how much she enjoys herself. She just kept staring at the goats and didn't blink at all!

If you are interested to go, you can take the Kranji Express bus for $2 per ride from bus stop outside Kranji MRT station. :)

Ah Gong & Ah Ma

My parents literally 'light up' everytime they see Joey. They immediately transform into super smiley & cute people who will make funny noises & sounds just to make Joey smile. Haha. You know, I always feel that the best thing I have ever done for my parents is to give birth to Joey, cos she brought lots of joy to them. =)

And Joey loves them so much too. Which is just very expected, since they dote on her so much. They are always thinking of what to buy for Joey - clothes, toys, food.. :)

There was this once my dad came to my house with a Barney soft toy in his hands. I was very touched that day leh, cos it's been so long since I last saw my dad with a soft toy in his hands. When I was small, he used to go on business trips and never fail to bring back a new soft toy for me. Of course, he stopped when I started primary school and no longer fancies such things. When he brought the Barney soft toy, I was reminded of those happy times. Now my dad buys for my daughter. wah... feels so heartwarming.

And I am always very amazed by their patience when taking care of Joey. I mean, I never remembered them with so much patience when I was growing up. Haha.. But now, they have much more patience than me. =D

I tried to imagine how I will behave when Joey has her kids. Hmm.... very hard to imagine, but I think I will super dote on my grandchildren too! Heeee...
