The Faux Fur Bean Bag

The final item for my house was finally delivered this morning!

Our faux fur fuschia bean bag!!!

Joey fell in love with it at first sight! And she just couldn't get out of it!!!

The bean bag even has a cool name - The Blob. Haha... Ordered from an online store called Snugg beanbags!

We're happy with it! :)

Pasta Painting

This is something I thought of doing when I saw the different pastas I have in my fridge. Turned out to be quite fun for Joey. =)

Used these 2 pastas which I thought can create more interesting strokes and shapes.

Prepared her paints and she's ready to paint!

The wheel-shaped pasta is good for stamping, so she started with that first...

Then later she went on to use the brush and her hands to paint...

She Is Day Toilet Trained!

That's good news eh? :)

Finally, Joey's toilet-trained during the daytime. At the beginning, she would sometimes 'leak' urine in her panties when we are training her, cos she kinda forgot she's not on diapers, and when she wanted to urinate, the first few moments she would forget she needs to go to the toilet to do it. But the moment the urine comes out, she suddenly remembered, and she would then go to the toilet to finish up her business. But that also means that we got to keep changing her panties everytime it leaks. Troublesome.

By now, she will always remember to go to the toilet when she wants to urinate. She would sometimes just go to the toilet without telling us. When I suddenly remembered that she has not been to the toilet for quite a while and I asked her, she would tell me that she's just been to the toilet. No more leaks! *happy happy*

At night, she still wears diapers to sleep of course. My MIL tells me that at the beginning stage of training her not to wear diapers even at night, I would have to wake up at 3am just to wake her up to go toilet. At least for a period of time. And be prepared to have bed wetting happen a few times before success beckons. Oh well, that's the next stage.

That day when I brought her to longkang fishing, I even took a step of faith and brought her out without diapers! keekeke... no accidents at all, thank God. But I must admit, on the MRT trip, I was rather nervous. =P I kept asking her if she wants to urinate so that at least I can let her wear her pull-up pants just in time. Still, everything went rather smoothly. :)

This is an important milestone in Joey's life! I pray that she will be completely toilet trained pretty soon! =D

Project 豆豆

I want to teach Joey about how a life can spring out of a small little seed (errr.. may be a little too chim for her to understand, but who knows for sure? heee), so I started Project 豆豆!

It's just the simple project we used to do as primary school kids - growing beansprouts from green beans!

Told Joey that there will be beansprouts tomorrow when she wakes up and she got very excited about it!

Incase you are wondering why she's only wrapped in towel, she insisted on seeing the project right after her bath. Heee...

Maybe she'll start to like eating beansprouts at the end of the project. Now, she spits them out.

Just this Morning….

..... Joey and I went for breakfast at Coffeebean's!

We reached Suntec very early and office is not open yet, so I decided the best way to keep her occupied is to give her food. Haha.. so we went to have a slow & nice breakfast.

Joey was very well behaved. She just sat in her high chair playing by herself while we waited for the food to come. And when the food came, she ate the whole bowl of steamed eggs!

The food was not too bad.. Cos I ordered the steamed eggs specially for Joey, I was left with only the plain toasts... ><

But I was just happy that I had a large cup of coffee to go with the toasts. Good enough.. :)

Yet another day to chiong!!!!!!!! Dear friends, have a great & fruitful day ahead!

Sometimes I Get A Little Over Paranoid..

Some of you may say 'CHOY!!!' when you read this, and others may laugh at my paranoia. Whatever. Better be safe than sorry wat!!!!

Anyway, the story starts off when Joey started complaining that the area under her knee area is very painful. Periodically, once in a while, she would complain of such pains, but we usually don't pay much attention to her. My MIL mentioned to me several times that it's not the first time she complained of the pain and we should perhaps bring her for an X-ray. I told her OK, but inside my heart, I keep thinking she's just being paranoid.

Then a few days ago, Joey complained of the pain in the same place several times in one afternoon. She would sit down, then frown and keep rubbing that same area and complain that it's painful.

I got concerned about it, so went to do some research on the internet. I found different kinds of pains that children experience such as growing pains (which are normal in growing kids and usually affects both legs especially after a long day of activities), and other kinds of joint pains which are really no real cause for concern.

Then, I read about this particular kind of pain, which happens in only one specific area of one leg, which could likely be (get ready for this....) the very first symptoms of leukemia. Leukemia usually starts with pain in the bone, and the kid would be restless, lose appetite and weight loss etc.

I seriously freaked out when I read about that!!!

Cos I recalled that Joey had been feeling rather restless the past few days. She would keep feeling sleepy and would lie down to rest, without being able to fall asleep. Then she ate very little because she didn't seem to have the appetite. And now, the pain??!!!!!

Immediately the next day, we brought her to Gleneagles to see Dr Yip. Told him about the pain she complained about and the funniest thing happened.

Dr Yip wanted her to lie down so that he could examine her leg. But she suddenly felt insecure about it and put up a violent struggle! Then all of a sudden, SHE KICKED DR YIP!!!!!

Gosh, I was so embarrassed....

I asked Dr Yip whether her pain was any cause for concern, and he said simply, "If she has that much strength to kick me, I don't think there's anything wrong with her leg. This is probably just muscle ache, seeing how active she is."

=P

When I went back to office, my friend Dawn laughed at me!!!!! Yes la, I admit I let my imagination run wild alittle, but better safe than sorry mah?!!!!

By the way, the nurse took her weight and she is now at a healthy 14.8kg. Heee.. weight loss, my foot!

Longkang Fishing!

Brought Joey to longkang fish this morning! It's at this place in Khatib called BottleTree Park, and there's a small pond for kids below 12 years old to fish longkang fishes.. :) It's a Monday, so u can imagine the whole pond belonged to Joey..

For 10 bucks, the kid gets a small net and a small tank. Any fishes caught can be brought home as souvenirs... Look at Joey all ready to start her fishing!!!

Well, if you are thinking of bringing your kid there, you cannot be too particular about hygiene. You can imagine your kid stepping into a pond full of moss (the pond is washed & scrubbed every wednesday but it still gets dirty easily cos of all the fishes). My MIL is a cleanliness freak and for the entire fishing process, she kept going, 'erkkks... i think quickly bring her out le lah.. ' Hahahahha... I think the pond's cleanliness freaked her out a little.

For me, it's really quite ok.. the pond is quite clean, I think.. but of course, there're still residue of fish shit etc, which of course is expected la...

The net that the uncle gave us is really small... even I had a hard time catching the fishes! They swim super fast!!!

Joey could't catch any fish with the net, so she decided to use her hands!!! Hahaha (freaked my MIL out even more. wahahahahaha.. I'm cool.. I'm cool...)

My girl is really daring, I must say. She has no fear in grabbing the fishes but because they are so slimy & slippery, they slip out of her hands the moment she catches them. Haha...

Then the smart girl decided that it's faster to use the fish tank to catch the fishes! Hahaha...

And finally, with my help, she managed to bring some lovely longkang fishes home. Heeee...

Joey had loads of fun that we had a very hard time dragging her out of the pond to clean her up! Gosh.. think we might go back again.. heee..

Personalised Joey’s Chairs

You know ikea furnitures are nice and simple, but they are so mass produced that you will find exactly the same furnitures in many homes you visit. And so, since we got some wooden alphabets that our friend gave to us (her kids are all grown up and those alphabets were their childhood toys), I decided to personalise Joey's Ikea chairs!

There's only 1 of each alphabet, so thank God Joey's name does not have any repeat alphabets. kekeke..

Check it out!

Ta Da! The Joey Kuan chairs!

Joey loves her chairs. =D
