JCube is the latest shopping mall that opened in the West recently, and it didn't dawn upon me how near it was to my home until I checked it out last Monday with my family. Looks like I'll be spending a lot of time there from now on. :P

I like it that the shopping mall is so conveniently located just next to the Jurong East MRT Station, and it has many family-friendly restaurants and shops. The BEST thing, however, is that there is an ice-skating rink right smacked in the centre of the mall! Now, if you recall, I brought Joey ice-skating before, and while it was a very fresh experience for her, she did not have the courage to enjoy the sports. Since then, she's been bugging me to bring her back for ice-skating, and promised me that she'd do much better this time round. Since the school holidays have started, we finally brought her to JCube to stop her incessant nagging! =P

In case you haven't been to JCube, let me show you around the mall. :) It's a huge shopping mall with wide spaces and high ceilings to make your shopping experience an enjoyable and comfortable one.

There are several of my favourite stores all located in this one mall. Francfranc sells absolutely gorgeous home furnishings and decorations - I want to bring home everything!

Don't laugh at me, cos I totally love Smiggle. My hubby cannot understand why I like stationery and cute stuffs that seemingly appeals only to teenage girls. Both the girls and myself adore everything in this shop, and if I have my way, I'd buy everything home. Not joking.

And I reckon I will be buying many of my Christmas gifts from this shop because every little girl (and some boys even) LOVES Smiggle!

Of course, there're many other shops in the mall selling all kinds of merchandises that appeal to the whole family.

Gadget shops for the techies (usually the daddies??)

Fashion shops for the shopoholic-mummies!

Ice-cream & sweet shops for the little ones! I literally had to tear my girls away from these places. =P

And of course, there are the family-friendly shops such as foodcourt, supermarket and little eateries to fill the tummies of everyone.

And like I mentioned at the beginning, the highlight of the day was that we were all going ice-skating together! Each time you purchase an entrance ticket, it's for a 2-hour block so that they can control the crowd in the rink and allow everyone to have maximum skating fun in a comfortable setting. That's really good!

The girls were majorly excited. OK, me too actually. =P It's been ages since I last skated!!

These penguin Skating Aids are for rent at $10 per two-hour slot for children below 1.2 metres (or aged below 10 years) and they really helped the girls learn how to ice-skate without the fear of falling down!

The best thing that came out of this experience was that Joey learnt how to ice-skate (Woohoo!)! She started with the penguin, then became bold enough to skate on her own. So proud of Joey for stepping out in faith! =D Even though it was Baby Jayne's first ice-skating experience, she showed no fear absolutely! She went round and round the rink many times with the penguin without me! When she's older, she can possibly manage skating without any help. Now the skates are too heavy for her. haha!

There are nice crew in yellow tees around to assist anyone who needs help and to coach the little ones. There was one instance when all three of us fell down, and I couldn't pick myself up, haha! So one kind crew came over and helped me up. Really good service!

Finally after two hours of exercise, we settled down for some food - Famished!

There are several restaurants surrounding the ice-skating rink and customers can watch the skaters while dining. Love that! :) We chose to eat at .

My girls obviously did not have enough ice-skating! They kept telling me that we must go back again soon. :)

I love the food selections offered at this restaurant! Bubble milk tea and lots of authentic Taiwanese fare!

Seems like we parents need to look too far for activities to occupy our kids this year-end school holidays because there are many interesting events happening on Sentosa! The Sentosa Playcation, which will take place from now till 30 December 2012, has a series of fun events lined up for both the young and old. There are art & craft sessions, life-sized Playmobil experience on Palawan Beach and lots of photo-taking opportunities at the Merlion Plaza, etc.

We were invited to check out the Playmobil Bazaar at Palawan Beach last weekend, and it was the first time we came face-to-face with life-sized Playmobil characters!

I thought Baby Jayne looked like 'her', and so a photo was a must. Now, if only Jayne wore orange that day. =P

Lots of knights, canons and pirates everywhere! The whole place was nicely set up, and I thought it was nice seeing the usually small Playmobil characters standing so big in front of me. That could have been the kid in me talking.

This castle immediately attracted the kids when we arrived, and before I knew it, they were no where to be found.

Then, I realised there was a playground beyond the facade of the castle! And of course, the kids were there. Nice to have a knight guarding the slide.... No?

Then the kids were finally pulled away from the playground because the games were starting!

The kids were told to put on masks and go around searching for 'treasures' hidden all over the place.

They were not looking for this box of 'treasure' apparently. =P

The girls didn't manage to find any treasures, so they retreated to the stations where Playmobil toys were set up for the kids to play with. It was the first time my girls played with Playmobil - It was definitely a good introduction to them.

 

The figurines were very cute and made in great detail. Very amazing.

Just before we left, we met a super friendly pirate! :)

After visiting Palawan Beach, you might want to check out The Merlion Plaza where there's a Christmas tree made out of transparent capsules with playmobil characters inside each of them.
