Ben Ten Cafe

Visited Ben Ten Cafe (Illuma, Level 1) with my friends on Sunday. If you’ve been following this blog, you’d have read about my past visits there, mainly for their signature desserts. This time round, we had lunch there and tried their main courses. :)

The interior is bright & cheery, though I find the place a little small and crammed.

Entertaining Baby Jayne during our meal times now is no mean feat. She simply cannot sit still, unless we offer her something interesting to play with.

She’s so going to be a Coke Lover just like Daddy & Mummy!

The food at Ben Ten Cafe’s not too bad. They serve up fusion Jap & Italian.

Isaiah’s pasta. Lovely & Al-dente.

My chicken & prawn tempura combo! You have a choice of black pepper, mushroom or curry sauce and I opted for curry sauce, which gave the whole dish a nice little twist! Yums.

Beef meatball pizza for all to share. Quite unique.

Nice hang-out place on a Sunday afternoon. :)

Her 1st Playground Expedition!

It didn’t dawn upon me that it was Baby Jayne’s 1st visit to the playground when we were there. Only when I started writing this entry, did I realise that I had never brought Baby Jayne to a playground before!

IMG_0181

13 months and her 1st playground expedition! heee haa!

As expected, there was no stopping her the moment we brought her to the playground. She must have thought this was heaven!

IMG_0183

IMG_0184

This was the playground at my parents’ place, and it’s a lot more fun than the one at our place. There was a lot more climbing and sliding-down to do!

IMG_0187

And Joey brought along her scooter to play. :)

IMG_0186

I was quite surprised she seemed unfazed by how shaky this hanging bridge was..

IMG_0191

And all the slide-downs, she seemed to enjoy too!

IMG_0194

Looks like I’ve got a daring girl in the making. She might turn out to be one adventurous girl who loves bungee-jumping and sky-diving!

Walking and exploring has become her fav pastime.

Joey loves to climb the slide from the bottom up! keke..

IMG_0218

Now Joey no longer plays on her own! She has a little sister to play with her! :)

Daddy made her do chin-up and she got upset. Ha!

Playgrounds are FUN! =D

My Jie-Jie Is The Best

Enough has been said about how much Joey adores her little sister. Today, I’m going to tell you all about the other perspective.

It is obvious Baby Jayne idolises her sister.

Like a typical younger sibling, she laughs at everything Joey does or says, and looks at her adoringly with a smile most of the time. She is amused at all her actions (even I am!), and just thinks she’s the coolest girl on planet earth. Before long, I am pretty sure she would follow Joey wherever she goes and wants to have a part in all that Joey does. It’s a good thing, of course. Goes to show she really loves having such a sister. =)

IMG_0165

IMG_0166

And therefore, Joey’s neighbour cum friend has also become her neighbour cum friend.

IMG_0169

Whenever we let Joey go out to the corridor and play with the neighbour, Baby Jayne insists on going out as well. She refused to miss out the fun! And so, since I do not want to keep a watchful eye on them all the time, I sometimes prefer to keep them indoors and they can play together at the grilles. =P

IMG_0170

I actually can’t really understand how Baby Jayne feels towards this idolising thing, because I am the eldest kid in my family and I was in the position of being idolised by my little brother. =P I suppose it’s because the elder sibling always appears more knowledgeable, capable, cleverer because we are older and have learnt more stuffs. I remembered I enjoyed being the elder kid even though it meant I had to tutor my little brother sometimes (I hate tutoring!). I especially enjoyed ordering my little brother around and threatening him to listen to me because I AM THE JIE JIE and therefore can cane him if he misbehaves. Ha! I must have been a very tyrannical sister.

IMG_0171

Joey has fitted into the shoes of an elder sister very well and she totally loves ordering her sister around, telling her off whenever she tries to touch Daddy & Mummy’s stuffs, or picks up unknown objects from the floor and attempts to eat them. She keeps her eyes on Baby Jayne most of the time, keeping her in check.

IMG_0173

I am sure Baby Jayne enjoys all the ‘guidance’ as well. :)

It’s This Kind Of Thing I Wouldn’t Wanna Pass On

You know how people always say we become who our parents are?

There’re some truths in it, for sure, but I would rather believe that I will only inherit the good stuffs of my parents and leave behind the not-so-good ones. Of course, I can’t be a perfect person and along the way, I pick up my own not-so-good stuffs as well.

One very bad thing about me and my lifestyle is that I am a fruit-hater.

I am pretty sure my mum tried to stuff me with lots of fruitty goodness when I was a little girl, but I probably resisted everything the best I knew how. Things have started to get better nowadays because out of nowhere and for some unknown reason, I’ve started to develop a liking for some fruits (Think watermelon and watermelon).

One thing for sure, I don’t want my kids to inherit this portion of me because I do know that fruits are good for health, complexion, detoxification and what-nots. I want my kids to grow up loving something that can make them healthy and glow, for sure!

But because I hate fruits, I didn’t have the habit of giving fruits to my kids, which is a really bad thing. Thankfully, the moment Joey started preschool, she got her daily portion of fruits. But before the age of three, her fruit intake was really sparse and pretty limited to her weekend trips home to Grandma’s (My mum’s a super fruit lover).

Now that I’ve come to a sudden realization of my folly, I’ve decided to redeem myself and now include this important element into Baby Jayne’s diet.

You would have read yesterday about my dragonfruit adventure (though it didn’t end quite well), and turns out, Baby Jayne kinda likes dragonfruit too. She eventually produced a packet of pretty purplish polka dottish dung, which I reckon was quite worth the effort afterall.

And today, I went along and bought Golden Kiwi (supposedly very highly nutritional and sweet!) for Baby Jayne and rock melon for Joey! How about a round of applause for this quick-to-repent-and-immediately-takes-action Mama??!

I have plans to make apple sauce and pear sauce, as well as strawberry jam so that my girls can also have fruits for desserts! How cool!

I pray this is not just another of my 5-minute enthusiasm. =)

The Smoothie Machine

During Joey’s 4th birthday, she received a smoothie cum ice-cream making machine as a present. We finally brought it out to try the other day. I was curious to see if a toy like that could really work.

Took out the toy, assembled it and washed it clean.

IMG_0065

My plan was to make dragonfruit smoothie and ice-cream, so I went along and bought 2 lovely dragonfruits!

IMG_0064

So pretty that it’s almost unreal..

IMG_0067

Joey was excited to try it!

IMG_0066

Dragonfruit is one of her favorite fruits!

IMG_0068

After cutting the dragonfruit into cubes, Joey helped to scoop them into the blender.

IMG_0069

IMG_0070

IMG_0071

Ah so lovely… =)

IMG_0072

Added ice cubes into the blender so that the smoothie will turn out to the cold and nice..

IMG_0074

IMG_0075

The next logical step would be to start the blender, right?

Get ready for an anti-climax.

  THE BLENDER MOTOR WAS SPOILT.

Great. Wonderful. How nice. Tremendous. Fantastic. Fabulous!

There was absolutely no way I could test whether this toy was a real ice-cream maker or not because it.wont.even.start. IT.WONT.START!!!!! And it’s brand new, for goodness’ sake! Even the batteries were brand new, hello??!

Needless to say, we were both very disappointed and had to go for ice-cream outside just to make ourselves feel better. Boohoooooooooooooooooo!!!
