Kids-Friendly Restaurant: Food For Thought

And so, following up from yesterday's post, I organised a birthday dinner party at Food For Thought at Botanic Gardens. It's been on my mind for quite a while to visit this place because the last time I brought my kids to Botanic Gardens, it was so crowded that we had to opt for another dining venue.

There is something about rows of long tables in a restaurant. Totally brings back fond memories of my hostel-staying days in NUS. And definitely a great formula for group dining. Makes for good interaction & conversations.

First and foremost, I love the setup of the restaurant. It's lit with soft orange lights, high ceilings with whitewashed walls and see-through glass doors. It flows seamlessly to the outdoor area where there's a playground for kids and some tables as well.

Love the quotes on one side of the wall as well. Such things always get to me. :)

Love these cookie jars with animal figurines on the covers!

A retro touch to the interior - probably something that remained from its predecessor, which was a foodcourt that existed for many years.

We made a group reservation and food was served 'buffet-style' for our group of 40 people. The portions were definitely far too little though the manager claimed that it would be sufficient. They obviously didn't know what big eaters we have among us. =P But, the quality of the food did make up for the lack in quantity. Everything was YUMMY, I kid you not!

Grilled Mushroom, Roasted Tomatoes & Caramelised Onion Salad

Spinach and Cheese Potato Gratin

Chicken Stew Pot Au Feu

Whole Grilled Barramundi Fish

Bacon Aglio Olio

Bread & Butter Pudding

Mini Fruit Tartlets

We also had fruit coolers, coffee & tea served on the side. All these for $35/pax, including venue rental cost.

We brought in our own home-made cupcakes for the celebration, and I thought the restaurant was kind enough to 'close one eye' about it because I saw that they were selling cupcakes in the restaurant as well. :) Such pretty cupcakes, isn't it??

And one of the friends made this balloon bouquet for the birthday girl! If you are interested to have customised balloon bouquets or flower baskets done for you, do contact Christina at shapesofjoy@gmail.com.

Did a toast, and created much ruckus in the restaurant! So much fun. =D
