My very adorable Joey in her new specs. =)

Finally, after going through numerous eye checks, Joey has got her prescription and we brought her to make her first pair of spectacles.

Many friends who heard that Joey was myopic told me to make the best out of the situation – Watch her diet, her viewing habits etc, and most importantly, make a good pair of specs that she likes. It’s going to be a permanent accessory on her, so it’s important that she likes her pair of specs. Otherwise, it’s going to be difficult to get her to wear it all the time.

Joey was a little bothered by the fact that she has to wear specs 24/7. The Optometrist told her that apart from sleeping time and bathing time, she has to wear her specs all the time. She obviously didn’t like that. Understandably so.

But I must say Joey looks really cute in her new pink specs. It has to be pink, of course. It’s her favourite colour. She wouldn’t even consider the other colours the optical shop sales person took out for her to try. Turned out there were only 2 pink frames she could choose from – one was a round frame, the other was rectangular. She chose the round frame, and we were all amused when the sales person commented that she resembled ‘Harry Potter’s sister’! LOL!

In the end, we left the shop with her pink specs, pink wipe cloth & pink casing. What a great pink start to her life through lens! I pray that we can keep her myopia in check and that it doesn’t deteriorate further. Papa Isaiah started wearing specs at age 6, and I started wearing when I was 9 years old. So, we all started very young and could really understand how it feels like. I’ve been using that to encourage Joey, so hopefully this is going to be a smooth and easy transition for her!
