It's been more than a year since we last brought the kids for an overseas holidays without any grandparents. The last one was to Bali early last year, and the most recent one was to Gold Coast which my mum-in-law went as well. I ought to remember how tiring it would be to bring two kids for overseas holidays without any help! Now, I need another holiday to rest those aching muscles. =P We took an evening flight on Jetstar to Perth, and reached close to midnight. Both kids slept on the flight, so it was very manageable. Weather was cold at 15 degrees celsius.

It was our first self-drive holiday, and I was quite excited at the thought of it, though hubby was not so. =P He's the only one who could drive, you see. Haha! But having a car everywhere we went was so convenient! We stayed at three different hotels on this trip, which was considered a lot since we were there only for 4 nights! But with a car, we could bring our luggages everywhere we went. Plus, the kids could snooze in the car whenever they were tired. The GPS worked most of the time, so it's really good!
We set off for our road trip the very next morning after a quick breakfast of yummy croissants and coffee. I had a few places in mind to visit, like I mentioned previously. But of course, I knew we wouldn't make it to every single one of them. I was glad though that we did manage to find 70% of the places and even explored a few new ones that were recommended by friendly Aussies we met along the way - You gotta love the friendly and charming Aussies. :)

Lovely weather throughout our road trip - The skies were clear and blue, and there was some sunshine here and there, but mostly, it was cloudy and very windy.

Our first stop on our road trip was at Bunbury, situated about 2 hours' drive from Perth City. We were driving towards the Bunbury Lighthouse and we saw this really lovely view and we had to stop to check it out. The sand was so soft and fine, and the coastal view was gorgeous.

The kids were excited to be able to get down from the car and run around, as you can see. Being in Perth is a very relaxing thing - there's nothing much to do, but you rest your mind and soul. It's a good retreat from our busy city life. And kids just enjoy running around and chasing each other - Not doing much but just enjoying it.

I love to make my kids do jump shots in places like these. So spacious and free! They can make all the noise in the world and nobody would complain!

Then we continued driving and arrived at the Lighthouse Beach, where the Bunbury Lighthouse was situated.

The lighthouse is a distinctive landmark of Bunbury, and I do not think it is in use anymore. Nevertheless, many people visit this landmark whenever they come to Bunbury.

The girls were a lot more interested in plucking off little buds from the roadside (opps!). Before I could stop them, they already gathered a whole bunch in their hands. =P

To get a skyline view of the city of Bunbury, go up the Rotary Lookout Tower. Beware though - It's extremely windy and cold! But the view's really nice.
