Marine Life Park at RWS

Media Invite

It's cool to know that the World's largest Oceanarium - Marine Life Park, has opened at Resort World Sentosa! That's really a feat considering how small Singapore is compared to the rest of the world. I was really excited to check out the sparkling new attraction on its opening day!

The Marine Life Park consists of two attractions - S.E.A Aquarium and Adventure Cove Waterpark. Both are just as awesome, and I am pretty sure many parents would flock to this place with their kids in no time. I didn't bring my kids along for the media invite, but I am already planning to bring them there soon. They would love it so much!

The S.E,A Aquarium - the world's largest aquarium - is home to 100,000 marine animals of over 800 species in 45 million litres of water. I like it that the whole aquarium is divided into 10 different zones with 49 habitats, and by walking through the whole aquarium, you can see how unique the underwater world can be in different parts of the world. I thought that's really educational, and gives both adults and kids a great insight into the mysterious underwater kingdom.

This tunnel is the entrance of the aquarium - very similar to the Underwater World found at Sentosa, except that this is just a very short prelude to the amazingness that is to come.

Love this huge tank of colourful fishes and corals - It's gigantic and goes all the way up to the next level.

A Discovery Touch Pool allows the guests to touch the sea stars and some corals etc. Kids would be especially thrilled by this.

There are many pretty fishes and corals to view as we walk through the aquarium. And it's always interesting to see how the fishes love to swim together in a school. :)

Saw some exotic ones as well...

But my personal favourite has got to be the jellyfish section. Some of the jellyfishes are translucent and reflects light, so the display tank would light up in different colours to reflect their unique property. The organizer said this was the disco section of the aquarium. :)

These jellyfishes come in browns and blues - So pretty!

These polka dotted ones actually made my goosebumps pop out.

A type of sea urchin.. really pure white & wavy.

A huge lobster! Love the design on its shell.

And cute Nemos! =D Probably the only fish the kids could shout out the name.

Hair stand. Literally.

The centrepiece of the aquarium is the Open Ocean Habitat, seen through the world's largest viewing panel. Its really humongous, and you feel as if you are on a cavernous ocean floor.

I think it's an awesome to have bean bags spread everywhere in front of the viewing panel - I can spend hours sitting here and staring at the fishes and a piece of the ocean. Therapeutic, no? In any case, this centrepiece is really impressive.

There are very interesting species in this huge tank. I thought these were exceptionally cute! They looked like they were flying through water. :)

The final part of the aquarium is a sharks tunnel where we saw sharks of different sizes swim past and above us.

I really enjoyed touring the S.E.A Aquarium, and think it's educational and packed with lots of interesting elements that can wow your senses.

After a quick lunch, we proceeded to the Adventure Cove Waterpark. I was really looking forward to checking the place out because it's the first waterpark in the region that incorporated marine life into its facilities. Sounds really interesting! I took a quick stroll around the place before changing into my swimsuit and jumping into the water!

A 620-metre lazy river runs round the whole park. If you sit on a huge float and let yourself float through the whole river, it will take you 20 minutes, and it's usually a good place to start if it's your first trip to the park. :) You can also opt to slow swim through the lazy river, and it's actually shallow enough to walk through it as well.

Every few steps away, there's a lifeguard watching out for the guests' safety. I thought that was very thoughtful of them!

Nice chill-out area for those who want to suntan or just laze with a book in hand.

I think the landscaping was nicely done in the whole park. I love it!

Limestone caves? Different background music can be heard at different sections of the park to enhance the whole experience.

Floating on the lazy river brings you through this cave with water dripping onto your heads. Pretty fun!

There are a total of six slides in the park - And no, I did not attempt any of them. Some were too high, some were twisted here and there too much. My heart's too weak for such stuffs, but I can imagine how much fun my crazy friends would have here. Very thrilling, I admit.

This might be a little more suitable for my heart, LOL! One thing I know for sure - My kids would scream and jump right in if they saw this!

There are many interesting sections in the park, and this is one of them - The BluWater Bay turns into a wavepool every 15 minutes, and I had so much fun in it!!! I sat on the giant float, and I was just hurled here and there by the waves!

Maybe when I return the next time, I would find the courage to try this... Probably just very fast speed down the slide and meet with huge splashes of water??

And now, this is really a very fun and special portion of the park - The Rainbow Reef!

Yes, you can do snorkelling here! COOL OR WHAT??

This is a pool whereby you can try snorkelling and check out the pretty and colourful fishes and coral underwater. It was my first time doing snorkelling and I must say it takes some getting-used-to! There was an instructor who taught us how to put on our goggles, bite on the mouthpiece and breathe through our mouths. The first few minutes was tough! I kept feeling like I couldn't breathe properly! But I soon got the hang of it, and managed to enjoy my first snorkelling experience! SO INTERESTING! A definite must-try when you visit the park!

Apart from the Rainbow Reef, there is also a Rays Pool where guests can go into the pool and interact with the creatures! Starting from next year onwards, guests can also sign up for ray-feeding and interaction programmes with sharks and dolphins. I can imagine that would be a lot of fun!

Splashworks is another interesting section of the park. Inside, you get to attempt different obstacle courses such as beam-walking, climbing up the rope and ringing a bell, climb through the rope wall etc.

I thought this was a pretty interesting concept - Combining obstacle courses with water! Even if you fall off the obstacle course, you are just falling into water! The pools of water here are really, really deep at 4metres each. This is of course to cushion the jump into the pool. It was frankly a little terrifying jumping into a huge pool of water this deep! =P

Love the colourful life jackets found everywhere in the park. This is such a colourful and happy place! =D I was really glad that I managed to play in the park before the rest of Singapore knows about the place and come crowding in!

I really enjoyed the time inside the Adventure Cove, and am already planning my next trip back with my kids! Thanks RWS for the invitation! :)
