After I got married, I always have family dinners with my parents, but we seldom get a chance to visit a tourist attraction together.
Last Sunday was such a memorable day for all of us - My parents, brother and mother-in-law joined my family after church service for an afternoon out at Gardens by the Bay. I have to say, Gardens by the Bay is one of the best places to have a three-generational family outing because both the young and old would enjoy the time there. Speaking of which, the Flower Dome has just gone through a transformation in celebration of Deepavali. From now till 10 November, you can visit the Flower Dome for their colourful floral tapestry. There will also be a 15% discount on admission tickets to the conservatories from 1 to 3 November.
I expected to see elephants and Indian lanterns, and I really did. Deepavali is after all the Festival of Lights! Won't spoil it for you by showing you all the decorations and new floral displays - You can go check it out yourself!
We especially enjoyed the Cloud Forest though. The kids, as usual, loved the water fall and were instantly drenched when they ran all the way near to it. It was the first time at Cloud Forest for several of them, and everyone commented that it was just awesome. Especially my dad - He kept saying "This is really very well done. So beautiful. Very nice!" everywhere he went. :P
And I finally got a chance to take a rare photo with my dad and brother. So thankful for them in my life - Even after I got married, they are always looking out for me and making sure I have everything that I need.
Check out my mother-in-law's slightly nervous expression. :P I felt the same when I went to the Cloud Forest for the first time. The height and the 'holely' flooring can make one a little nervous.
And so, these two girls demonstrated that they were TOTALLY not scared at all, and mocked at the rest of us older folks. =X
Not. scared. at. all. I'm brave.
We had a really enjoyable walk through the Cloud Forest and the kids were having much laughing and playing. Spending time with family is always happy and blissful. Especially when my parents are getting old, I want to spend as much time as I can with them. Nobody really knows how many more years we can have together, so I just want to treasure it now.
Warning: Funny photo coming up.
WAHAHAHAHAAHAHA! The two grandmothers were really patronizing and followed the kids to pretend to 'swallow' in the cold air coming out of the vents.
My mom's got tons of photos on her mobile phone of Jayne in this pose. Every 5 steps she took, she would pose like this and make my mom take her photo. Poor grandma.
It was literally the best family outing ever. I'm thankful.
