Soon Soon Heng is my absolute favourite Bak Kut Teh stall in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. It's located conveniently opposite KSL City Mall, so they are usually always packed. If you've dined there before, you would understand why their BKT's loved by so many. The soup's flavourful, packed with all the yummy ingredients and really, really hearty on the tummy.
Yesterday, we went over to have our dose of BKT again, and no matter how many times I've eaten there, I am always amazed at how yummy it really is!
Then again, I'm not sure if it's the company - I usually have this BKT with my family.
Fried dough sticks is a must. Best consumed right after a full dunk into the BKT soup!
Our huge pot of BKT - Apart from the standard pork ribs, you can choose what goes into your soup. We usually add most of the available ingredients such as enoki mushrooms, button mushrooms, pork balls, pig's stomach, beancurd skin, abalone clams, etc. The pork balls are very, very good. You must add them no matter what. They are as Q as can be.
Another dish we would usually order as well is the Claypot Sesame Chicken. This is super yummy with great flavour and extremely compatible with rice. This is comfort food at the highest level. Delicious is an understatement.
To round off the meal, you must always order the refreshing and chilled Aiyu. This is a kind of refreshing dessert with jelly that's sour & sweet. Super duper good!
I think I can have this BKT everyday for a month straight and not get sick of it. It's that good.
