Angry Bird Space Experience At The Singapore Changi Airport

Event Preview

The December school holidays have begun. While the kids are excited about a super long break from homework and exams, many of the parents are scratching their heads on where to bring their bored kids to. Now, Changi Airport might be a very good choice because the Angry Birds Space have officially landed there! We were invited for a blogger preview last weekend, so let me bring you through the Angry Birds Space Experience there!

1. GIANT ANGRY BIRDS SPACECRAFT

Right smacked in the centre of Changi Airport Terminal 3 Departure Hall, you will find this gigantic Super Red Bird spacecraft from Angry Birds Space, which displays lighting and sound effects at specific timings. Not only is it eye-catchy, kids would get a cheap thrill from running through this space spacecraft shaped as their favourite bird.

The parents are thrilled as well of course, because there are lots of photo opportunities everywhere in this display area. I have to admit that I am not a big fan of Angry Birds, but they are somehow able to capture the hearts of both adults and kids - My kids get all excited whenever I mention Angry Birds! So you can imagine how thrilled they were when they saw this huge spacecraft!

My personal favourite is the GREEN PIGGY!

You can walk into the shuttle from one end and come out from the other. There's a video screen inside showing the Angry Birds Space story with lots of lights and glitters. Very Christmassy. :)

It's interesting how many variations they are able to create out of Angry Birds. The space version is really quite cute and futuristic.

I won't spoil it for you by telling you what the music and light effects are - You can try to catch the show when you are there. :)

Another interesting thing about this area is that you can choose to have your photos taken with Special Angry Birds Space augmented reality markers. The event photographers will snap your photos, and process it into your own animated Angry Bird e-greeting Christmas cards! This Christmas, you can send personalized Christmas cards to your friends - So cool!

2. ANGRY BIRDS SPACE HANDICRAFT WORKSHOPS

As long as there are handicraft workshops, there will be kids. Located at Basement Two in front of the foodcourt, kids can choose to do one of three different types of handicrafts at the workshop area - You can either paint a clock, fabric paint a tote bag or make a 3D cube. Of course, everything is Angry Birds Space themed!

Joey opted to paint a clock, and Jayne painted a bag. There were staff around to help and guide the kids, so all I did was watch and encourage them from the side. Haha!

The kids did such a great job! And as always, they enjoyed the handicraft workshops! For a single entry into the workshops, all you need to do is to present up to two receipts combined with a minimum spending of $60 (or $40 for Changi Rewards members). All the materials are provided, and the kids get to bring home their creative work. Really nice. :)

Joey very carefully did the outlines and made sure the colours were filled in nicely.

Good job, Jayne! =D

Next to the handicrafts area, there is a simulated Angry Bird booth, where you can try your hand at shooting down the Angry Birds & the bricks. But, it's REALLY TOUGH. =P We didn't even manage to launch it far enough to hit anything at all! LOL.

Well, I think I'll stick to my IPAD game.

3. ANGRY BIRDS SPACE LOUNGE

As expected, the kids went crazy in the lounge. Located at Departure Hall Row 11, this space-themed indoor playground features a huge ball pit, trampolines, slides and a toddler area with bouncy balls etc. A minimum spending of $20 or $15 for Changi Rewards members is necessary for single entry into the lounge.

I love the huge trampoline, as well as the mini ones that are supposed to be the planets. So much bouncing and jumping for the kids to do!

My girl is a BIG fan of trampolines! haha!

The playground is very toddler friendly - Very gentle slopes, and everything is well-cushioned. :)

And seriously, who can resist this ball pit??

The kids literally had a ball of a time inside.

There - my fav piggy again. =P

Now, for those of you who are collectors of plush toys, you'll be happy to know that the Angry Birds collectible plush toys are back by popular demand! A full set of all seven Angry Birds Space characters are available for collection, each toy redeemable with a minimum spending of $60 in Changi Airport's pubic areas ($120 in supermarkets) and $150 in transit areas. One new character will be launched for redemption at the public areas each week. My girls got to bring home one Angry Bird each! Guess who's whose?? =P

Besides the Angry Birds Space events, as we lead up to Christmas Day, there will be performers who will belt out familiar Christmas tunes as they roam the terminals on a buggy dressed up like a sleigh, spreading festive cheer to passengers and airport visitors. These musical performances will be available during the weekend of 14-16 December and 21-25 December 2012. I think Changi Airport is really bringing the Christmas Cheer to everyone this year - So much fun events and activities happening. Drop by soon to check them out! :)

Thanks to Changi Airport for your kind invitation. We had lots of fun! :)
